The winter exhibit presented by Beach Haven Borough Hall and the Pine Shores Art Association takes you on a walk through the history of Long Beach Island, thanks to generous loans from their collections by Kris and Marge Anderson, Beach Haven Public Library Museum, Jonathan Law Fine Arts Framing and Gallery, Long Beach Island Historical Association Museum, New Jersey Maritime Museum, Lawrence Oliphant, Unshredded Nostalgia, and Pine Shores Art artists past and present.
These paintings, photographs, marine charts, maps and more present a fascinating visual history of the earliest businesses and hotels, shipwrecks, salvage “wreckers”, railroads, first automobile bridge, and how Beach Haven developed, with brief notes explaining the way we were from the 1700s to today.
There are 73 pieces in the "Beaches & Boats: then/now" exhibit with paintings by more than 30 Pine Shores artists, plus historic photos on loan from the Beach Haven Library Museum and LBI Historical Society.
The show is open to visitors at Beach Haven Borough Hall daily Mon-Friday through Labor Day. The reception was in the afternoon on August 14th.
The Borough facilitated the hanging process by expediting the ordering and installation of a new Walker Hanging System like we have at PSAA. Special thanks go to Mayor Nancy Taggart Davis and Jackie and Eric of the Borough Public Works Dept.
