Pine Shores Art Volunteers Team Up with the Seaport Stitchers to Make Masks

Terrific teamwork these past few months with Pine Shores' artists and the Seaport Stitchers Quilt Guild in Tuckerton. To support our front-line medical personnel at local hospitals and other essential workers, a small group of dedicated stitchers produced 1,500 masks for hospital personnel to use over their N95 masks (prolonging their effectiveness).

Every week they turned in bags of finished masks. The work made for sore shoulders and thumb cramps but they never stopped sewing. The masks went mainly to Meridian (SOCH), but were also sent to Toms River Community Hospital, Monmouth Medical, the NJ State Troopers, and University Hospital and several other locations.

Here are some fun stats on the mask making: 750 hours of labor, 270 bobbins refilled, 11 MILES of thread. Congratulations to these hardworking folks who made this tremendous project possible.

Thank you from Pine Shores Art !
It was brought to Jackie Hanlon’s attention that Southern Ocean Medical Center front line workers/volunteers would appreciate personal messages. After discussing this with Linda Saladino, both ladies created forty cards each from several of their paintings.

Cards were delivered to the SOMC contact person on Tuesday, May 26th. and she will distribute them.
PSAA is grateful to all our wonderful essential workers who put their lives at risk to keep us safe.
