Plein Air in Pine Air !
Wells Mill County Park

November 10, 2020

Photos are from our PSAA Plein Air at Wells Mill County Park on Tuesday 11/10. Not exactly sure how many members were there but can confirm that Suzi Hoffman, Tom Troyano, Margaret Hartwell, Leslie Williams and Paul Hartelius were there. It was a gorgeous, warm fall day with clear skies, and some color still in trees next to the reservoir. Most of the morning was spent catching up with the members, some painting/sketching, lots of photography and a short hike on a trail or two. All in all, a great outing !

That’s Tom Troyano in the hat and blue t-shirt; Margaret Hartwell has the striped pattern shirt, hat and a camera around her neck; Leslie Williams is wearing a black sweater sitting chatting with Tom on the left standing, Veronica Astrom, and Margaret is on far right.

Pictured on the left is Paul Hartelius who did this ink and watercolor sketch.

Hello all!

The Pinelands Preservation Alliance has graciously let us meet at their location for Plein Air.  This is a great spot as it is also the location of Rancocas Creek Farm which is adjacent to the Pinelands headquarters. There are many beautiful spots to paint around the property and a lot of interesting facts regarding the Rancocas Creek Farm. It is worth the trip!
You can find out more by visiting Pinelandsalliance.org

“The Pinelands Preservation Alliance (PPA) has been working to protect the Pinelands since
1989 as the only nonprofit organization devoted specifically to New Jersey’s Pinelands. PPA’s
focus on the Pinelands is essential, because the ecology and environmental laws of the Pinelands are unique. The most important measure of our success is that vast forests still exist for people to enjoy, to cleanse our water supply, and to provide habitat in which native plants and wildlife can thrive.” (pinelandsalliance.org)

Looking forward to seeing you there !

Thank you and stay safe!

Local Artists Take Inspiration From Manahawkin Lake Park

Our location was at the Manahawkin Lake Park, located at 86 North Main Street, Manahawkin, NJ.  We enjoyed the brisk cold weather with a visit near Pine Shores local roots !

The Manahawkin Lake Park offers many interesting spots for painting close to home. There is a gazebo overlooking the lake as well as a bridge that takes you to the beautiful Stafford Community Garden and Heritage Park.  There are many other spots to set up and get creative.

Here are a few artists bundled up and masked from the park on Dec.10th !    Although the sun was bright in a cloudless sky, the icy wind coming off of the lake made conditions for painting less than ideal and darn right frigid.

Andrea Sauchelli and others ignored the elements to produce their works of art or taking reference photos for future studies in the comfort and warmth of their home studios !
